The grave of queen Maeve on Knocknarea mountain is an unexcavated passage tomb. It has so many features similar to Newgrange its expected to be aligned in the same way to the Winter solstice.
Maeves cairn had a ring of standing stones around it and the remnants of smaller passage tombs. Another hint to its function is the name of the nearby lake Lough Geal, meaning the bright/shining lake.
Queen Maeve is the Queen of Connacht in the Tain, the antagonist of the story who leads the armies of Ireland against Cu Chulainn. But outside the narrative of the story she was possibly a Sovereignty Queen/A tutelary goddess that personified that type of deities role in the kingship cult and the sacred marriage.
Maeves name means ‘the intoxicating one’ and she is linked to Tara Hill the site of the literary high king cult its possible her name means she is the personification of one part of the polytheist inauguration ritual there. The king accepts the tutelary goddesses favour in a ritualized consuming of mead or ale presented to him in literature by a goddess.
Another interesting feature of Maeves Cairn and the others in the area is theyre on mountains and mists and clouds form around them. The passage tombs are venerated as Bruidne, places where deities live and the Tuatha de Danann are supposed to arrive on a cloud of mist in some stories. Maybe when we see that mist today were sharing an experience with people of the past who thought it was a sign their gods were coming down from the Bruidne in the mists.

Oxmanstown in Dublin is an example of the origins the “fingallian” ethnicity and the first Fingallian homes mightve looked like the pic above.
Oxmanstown comes from “Austmenn” a germanic word for “east men”. A term originally coined by the norse gael/Irish vikings for themselves.
The name fingal only comes from gaelic speakers commenting on “Fingallians” different fair hair n skin.
The placename Oxmanstown isnt on maps now. Its only been used colloqially in Dublin since the gaelic nation state began to “deanglecize” Ireland.
Its only as an adult now im even getting a sense of being “fingallian”. Growing up in a xenophobic nation state I struggled with identity. With the sense of shame drummed into me in school where I was taught that not being from a gaelic speaking family meant you werent Irish.
if you werent a gaelic speaker you were English an enemy of our venerated martyrs. Fair haired foreigner or not it was intended as an insult.
Looking back now my grandad had a short terrier of dubious parentage named scut. A pure dog dog that was a guard to him and buddy to me. As much of a viking as Brodar that killed Boru.
I used to get a scut off the back of cars going home from primary school. A brief ride by standing on the back bumper before they saw me n stopped.
The word was old norse skautr. My childhood was filled with “fingallian” words like that. I thought were Gaelic because they werent english but were natural to me. I wish Id had the chance to enjoy the 1200 year old “fingallian” culture.
This rant is a product of seeing fingallian called English on wiki. Even though it quotes books thats say otherwise. Fk nationalism. I want the right to have my own ethnicity celebrated as Irish.
Small Glowtab
I just received the latest version of the glowtab from @pcordnsuch (thank you!). It measures 29x16mm and is a bit thinner than the first iteration. Still made out of moonglow and hence glowing strong. Nice piece, again with a jewelry-like feel to it; mine is the one with three notches, two on one side, one on the opposite one.
