"Getting in to a Taxi in a foreign country can be the last thing you do if you aren’t careful. Criminal groups all over the world have learned to use public transport like Taxis for their own means. -Selection of potential abduction victim’s. -Drug, weapons and money movements. -Intelligence gathering. (Some hitman have even used them as a way to get there victims close by actually disabling there cars and casually passing by offering them a lift, once inside they are gone) Before you even travel do a quick google search of criminal activity in the area you will be moving in and if the use of taxis by criminals has a history there. Do a check on public transport in the area and try and stick to does that are part of the air port or hotel services. DON’T GET IN TO A TAXI WITH OUT TEXTING THE CAB NUMBERS AND MAYBE EVEN A PICTURE OF IT TO AT LEAST TWO SOURCES THAT CAN CHECK BACK WITH YOU. Its a good idea to designate someone back home as a security measure to receive this info in case something happens. If you have a trusted local contact even better (better to have two options). *Try and sit behind the driver with your bag next to you. If shit goes down exit carefully and use the traffic to your advantage ( test the locks on it just in case, just say you are looking for the window switch). In the seminars I put on I try an get students to build their own network for just such a purpose." Ed ( Blackbox Cell Formations)

At times I have used apps such as find my phone, and allowing others to access gps tracking apps for just the same reasons. You do need to keep the phone out of sight so it does not get taken or compromised
