egilskalla-grimsson: You can find ship settings around the...

egilskalla-grimsson:

You can find ship settings around the Baltic Sea, in Scandinavian and Baltic states but also in Northern Germany. They are usually from the latter part of the Nordic Bronze Age, or from the Germanic Iron Age, the Vendel Age and the Viking Age.

A grave or cremation burial is surrounded by slabs or stones in the outline of a ship. Inside, they can be cobbled or filled with stones, or have raised stones in the positions of masts. The illusion of being ships has often been reinforced by larger stones at the ends, some of the ships were enclosed with barrows.

This ships show us, that the people who erected them thought that the place(s) were the dead have to go, can reached by boat. (I think the conceptions of afterlife were a little bit more complicated than the viking mythologies in the Eddas tell us.)

Going Behind the Water at Iceland’s Seljalandsfoss

For more photos and videos from the falls, explore the Seljalandsfoss location page.

In the south of Iceland near the western base of the glacier Eyjafjallajökull, the Seljalandsá river spills over a 60-meter (197-foot) cliffside to a placid pool below.

The waterfall, Seljalandsfoss, stands as one of Iceland’s most photogenic natural attractions. The jutting angle of the cliff allows visitors to explore behind the veil of water, revealing a waterfall that can be captured from nearly every angle. Whether camping at the falls’ base in summer or braving thick ice and snow during the winter, the sight of the falls throughout Iceland’s dramatic seasons has proven a longtime attraction for local and visiting Instagrammers alike.

hqcreations:

Potato Cages 2.0

Last year, I had a pretty good test run with this system and had a mini harvest. (My tutorial here. ) However, the location was not ideal and I had poor water retention. This year I leveled up to 15 cages, moved to a better location, and strawed the shit out of that circumference for better water retention and slow release nutrition.

I’m not growing potatoes in all the cages; I’ll show you guys the surprises soon. These cheap and easy-to-make vertical towers provide the most optimal use of my available space. I am able to micro-tune the soil requirements to specific plants. Most importantly, the cage provides the plant protection from wildlife and my own chickens who would otherwise wreck havoc on the garden.

Another Stash-It Use:

Need to keep lots of small parts together?

It doesn’t matter if you are stripping your side arm, fixing parts of a vehicle or assembling items for use later. Using the simple Stash-It to contain often small parts allows you to keep the items safe, but enclosed to prevent loss. Simply rolling down the top of the Stash-It gives you a nice tray to work with, and its very stable. Small screws, springs, circlips, latches and other items can be held safely in the deep Stash-It tray.

Dont get finished in time or just need to move?

No problem, unroll the top of the Stash-It and cinch it closed locking it down with the ITW hardware. Its all safe and secure. The internals of all the Stash-Its are edged to prevent wear and for cosmetic reasons. It also means nothing can escape from the stitching no matter how hard you work, the Stash-It will work just as hard!

stash-its: The Humble Stash-It, Hydrophobia: The Coyote Tan...

stash-its:

The Humble Stash-It, Hydrophobia:

The Coyote Tan Stash-It is proving just as popular as the Black version. But here is something that some people didnt know. They are quite water resistant due to the 420D material we use. You can treat them to make them 100% waterproof if you wanted too. As a few people have asked if that is possible, here is how I would do it.

Nikwax TX would be the best method, mixing a cap full of the TX with half a bucket of water and letting it soak for about half an hour, then simply letting it dry naturally.

The alternative would be Nikwax Tent & Gear Solarproof. This is a ready mixed spray, you just hang the Stash-It on the washing line and spray it on, leave it for five minutes and wipe the excess off. Once its dry your set for action. For best results dampen down the material first. Dont forget to pay extra attention to the seams for total proofing.

I must stress, this is not really required but a few people have asked if its possible to make it 100% waterproof.
