TinderCard Uses:

The internet is full of weird things, some months ago I was sent some Tindercard to have a look at. I had die cut it and slipped it into one of the oscardelta Go Tubes for some testing and been out with it a few times. After using it I can see that it does have its uses, its cheap, its easy to light when fluffed up. There is always a but and if you are unable to utter a falsehood, then this big butt is for you!

The smell of Tindercard is rather unpleasant. Its a compressed form of blotting paper with wax impregnated into it and typically used for lighting Barbeques or fires in areas with a lot of snow. It was a good friend from Norway that had put me onto it. Typically it comes as flat sheets and you tear a die perforated length off, fold it, surround it with charcoal, tinder or what ever else you have and light it. Fluffing the fibres up helps it burn especially if you are using a firesteel or a sparking wheel instead of a form of open flame.

Overall, the verdict is one that it does work, if you get beyond the aroma it has. Its very cheap and yes its a product that has been copied by other companies and a lot of different prices due to that. Sometimes called Lighting Paper, 18 lengths of the material costs a couple of pounds.

Once the material was die cut it fits perfectly in the Go Tube or DCT from OscarDelta, if you drill a hole in the centre of the stack, or run a file down one side you have some where to store a mini fire steel. Ultimately you have a compact fire kit that gives you a good head start should the need arise.

Go tubes available from OscarDelta
